If you lie and cheat for your children, how can you expect them to grow up with principles?

Are principles a thing of the past, is leading by example simply for losers? I have just heard a radio report on how churches congregations are flooded with parents of children simply to access a particular school; once the child is is accepted, then they stop going. Parents lie about their addresses or even rent out second homes.

This is a product of league tables, and will only get worse with the rise of free schools and academies. Certain schools will be perceived as better and watch the rush like the opening of the january sales, as parents are happy for their children to travel an hour and a half to get to one of these schools. The concept of local school is dying.

Just remember when you try and teach your children about morality and your child asks you but didn’t you lie and deceive to get what you wanted!

  • 54% of Conservative MPs elected in the 2010 general election attended fee-paying schools
  • The figure is higher than rival political parties – with 40% of Liberal Democrat MPs, and 15% of Labour MPs privately educated
  • In the UK, 7% of the school population attend private schools
  • 38% of Conservative MPs were educated at Oxford or Cambridge University

Can you believe that out of 7% of the population who attended private school make up 54% of the Tory Party, so much for Parliament being reflective of society.

I am suprised though that only 38% were Oxbridge educated.

Good ole Ed has criticised the Government for snobbery when it comes to vocational courses. He has said:

Ministers should show as much respect for young people whose skills secure them an apprenticeship as those who win places at university.

It’s unfortunate Ed, that whilst there is snobbery it doesn’t just stop at vocational courses. There is snobberey to which university you go to, there is snobbery to which course you take, and the same goes with colleges. It’s no good Labour moaning about this as they started the snobbery by increasing the number of places available at university ‘so everybody can go’, which in turn diminished the importance of apprenticeships, and practicle work experience. All that has happened is you have far more people on the dole with a degree but £25k worth of debt as well. That was a plan that was well worked out!

You could now argue that tuition fees have been introduced not only to enable the Univesities to cope with the increasing numbers, but also to use this as a means to exclude those from poorer backgrounds.

Labour wanted to give people equal opportunities but instead have created more inequalities as a result, and helped create a system that still favours the wealthy.   

 

Church schools shun poorest pupils

The Guardian have released figures that show that most Catholic and Church of England school have a higher proportion of middle-class children than the local population; religion being used as a reasoning to be selective of their intake. As usual churches are found wanting when it comes to the phrase ‘practise what you preach’.

Despite a country wide decline in people classed themselves as religious I think churches are getting an influx of people pretending to ensure their child gets an education. Why would you want to send your child to a school that uses religion as a criteria to exclude those that are actually in need. ‘But there are no good schools near us’ is the usual excuse for people to play the game in order to get into a religious school, attending on a regular basis so your child can get a good education. The education may be better but what about the integrity of the parents. I would rather my child have a shit education then believe that it is alright to lie and decieve to get what you want in life. Quite a paradox when you want your child to go into a school based on faith
