Jeremy Hunt jumps at the opportunity to justify privatisation.

Health Secretary Jeremy ‘silent k’ Hunt has seized the opportunity to state he is “disgusted and appalled” at accounts of patient neglect at a hospital in Worcestershire. In the worst instance of mistreatment  a patient starved to death at the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch.

Will Hunt look at how the NHS can be remodelled to ensure things like this are prevented – down with bureaucracy and autonomous silos – the NHS needs to be nationally run, no postcode lotteries, no more geographical funding issues; but I’m sure he will use this as an opportunity to justify why privatisation is needed. Thats right Jeremy with less poor people about, the less the Tories have to ‘bother’ about things like social responsibility.

Whilst the events at the hospital are disgusting, they are a result of the failings in part privatisation started by the Tories in the early 90’s and the ‘best value’ practices of Tony ‘I did it all for me’ Blair.

How can a man who blatantly advocated News Corporation take control of BSkyB claim that he was impartial – and what fucking idiot put him in charge of overseeing the merger in the first place.

You will fall Mr Hunt, it’s no good pushing your junior minister in an attempt to wow the crowd. The traditional circus music is playing in the background, the clowns have stopped tumbling, gazing upward as your slyly wobble but don’t quite lose your balance. Then the inevitable happens and we all gasp as you fall, taking anyone with you that you can.

Unfortunately the Cameron safety net has now been removed.

Send in the clowns………..

 

What Recession? Queen to have new yatch for Jubilee.

As two think tanks announce that the UK is in recession (and I’m sure they needed to think really hard), Michael Gove, Eduction Secretary, has made a proposal to Culture Secretary Jeremy (K)Hunt, suggesting that in order to mark her diamond jubilee, the Queen should be given a new royal yacht. Yes a yatch, not a card, or an engraved pen but a fucking boat. He stated that due to the Queen’s “highly significant contribution” to Britain and the Commonwealth, she should be recognised with a “lasting legacy” – what a fucking cheek.

The rest of us struggle on, trying to make ends meet, whilst the Queen lives off the taxpayer, surrounded by vast wealth and property, and to mark her Jubilee, the tax payer is going to give her a boat. What about the cuts Mr Gove, what about the failing schools that could do with more money – have you and Mr (K)Hunt lost the plot, insisting on wasting money; between the Olympics and the Queens jubilee there will be a need for more cuts, once the final bill has come in.

To mark the Diamond Jubilee what about the biggest cut of all, in the words of the Committee of Public Safety* “Off with their heads.”

* I appreciate Robespierre probably didn’t say those exact words, and they would also be in French, but you get my point.

In typical arrogance of the Tories, the culture secretary has rejected claims that the spending on London 2012 Olympic Games should be restricted. I’m sure ‘tightening the belt’ isn’t a phrase Jeremy Hunt (with a silent K) is familiar with; the elder son of Admiral Sir Nicholas Hunt, Jeremy was educated at Charterhouse School, where he was head boy, followed by Magdalen College at the University of Oxford, where he became President of Oxford University Conservative Association.

Jeremy (K)Hunt has told the Daily Telegraph that voters would not forgive the government if it failed to make the most of the Games. Bollocks – I’m sure voters would rather have cheaper food and fuel prices; the government has so far provided £9.3bn for the Games (the original estimate being £2.4bn). Money cannot be found to save jobs, to slow down the cuts but all of a sudden when it’s about running in circles they can find another 6 bn.

Mr Hunt  has been quoted as saying:

You can take two attitudes to the Olympics. You can say: these are times of austerity and therefore we should pare them down as much as possible.Or, you can say: because these are times of austerity we need to do everything we possibly can to harness the opportunity of the Olympics.

Again you need to be careful how the success of the Olympics is measured. I’m sure it will majke the country money from the rich, privelidged and corporate coming to see the spectacle (not many commoners have tickets for the major events, but this needs to be weighed up against how much tourism would have usually brought in without us spending a penny. The only good thing about the Olympics is it presents a wonderful opportunity to ‘spread the word’ whilst the whole world is watching.
