glasgow, mutual aid

Kropotkin had it right, it time s of trouble people pull together and get involved to help. It such a shame that it takes instances like last nights Glasgow helicopter crash to mobilise this.

Thoughts to those injured, still missing and all those who didn’t think twice o dive into the pub to help. I’m sure the situation would be worse without this.

mutual aid, State

To all politicians and those who blame everybody else for everything. Politics is simply a self perpetuating career nowadays, for the chosen few who have licked enough arse in their respective parties to get an opportunity not to piss anyone off. Politics is no longer about what you do for people but rather minimising the people you alienate.

At the same point of politicians simply playing the game, people have become more dependant on the state, and are quite happy to allow the state to provide everything and blame them for anything that goes wrong. Anyone who relies on the state or believes that they have their best interests at heart is a fool. The only person you can ever rely on is yourself, but it doesn’t need to be that way.

This is not having a go at those who have been caught by the safety net of the welfare state because life has dealt them a bad hand, it is for those who expect more than they need. There needs to be more opportunity, that isn’t church based, and on a small scale to allow neighbours to come together and help each other out. Everybody has something to offer. This isn’t Big Society, aimed at undermining industries / professionals that are paid to do a role, but a structured system on Mutual Aid. Working together for each other.

I’m lucky that I live in a neighbourhood where there is a certain element of that, from my neighbours, Rich, Clare, Steve, Michelle, Kate, Paul and all the others I speak to but don’t know there names, local friends Ian, Jane, Steve & Annette and even Shanka who runs the corner shop, everybody helps each other where they can.

Which side are you on – are you an idler or worker?

or are you a man of the church, even worse, telling the idlers that they are good and holy as long as they give the church money, and the workers that life is shit but you will get your reward in heaven. They help maintain the status quo by fear of the wrath of a ‘merciful’ god.

Yes I am reading the Robert Tressell’s Ragged Trouser Philanthropist – a book I should have read years ago but somehow never got round to. Whilst Kropotkin’s Mutual Aid metaphorically proves how society should be naturally, Tessell depicts how society has manifested itself it an unequal state and how this is maintained.

Humans will never master nature – another case proving mutual aid.

astronomical clock, astronomical time, atomic clock, kropotkin, leap second, mutual aid

I did not know that the Earth’s rotation actually slows down about two thousandths of a second per day, meaning that after 500 days the atomic clock (a system designed by humans) would be a whole second ahead of the astronomical time (ruled by the forces of nature). The result is that a leap second is manually added to the atomic clock, however this looks like it may be abolished because it’s a pain in the arse to alter all the man made mechanical objects to keep them aligned with the astronomical clock.

I don’t really know what the consequences of this are, apart from in 82 years the world will be a minute out and in 4920 years the atomic clock will be an hour out. Whilst this doesn’t appear to be too devastating my point is that humans have never quite got it right when it comes to reflecting or designing a process that works perfectly well i.e. Government Isn’t there a book depicting how animals are a shining example of a well worked society? Thank you Mr Kropotkin.

If relevant bodies cannot be bothered to alter their by one second to mirror a natural state of things, it leads you to question whose benefit an artificially established government is.
