unsanitary-living-conditions-19th-centuryPeople are suffering all over the country, and things are getting extremely desperate for many families as Cameron has announced that we can afford tax cuts, and Herr IDS denouncing any cause for concern.

The Department for Work and Pensions said there was

“no robust evidence that welfare reforms are linked to increased use of food banks”.

However Food Banks are seeing food handed back because there is not enough credit in their electricity meters to switch on their cooker.

The West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner Bob Jones spoke of his concern over an increasing worrying trend.

“patterns of criminality are poverty-related where people are stealing food and essential items as opposed to higher value good like electrical items or items like perfumes.”

With regard to the Ukraine President Obama declares that Russia is on the wrong side of history, proclaiming President Putin is behaving in a 19th Century manner in the 21st Century.

Are we sure that the same cannot be applied to the Tories and their control over our country.

He boldly stated that everyone was better off under the Tories, however the financial facts published show that people are on average £25 pounds a week worse off under the Tories. Even my son knows that he had just told a massive porky pie!

Thanks David, I’m so glad that the man running our country has his finger on the pulse.

Chuka Umunna announces that Labour will continue to fuck the working class.

labour, poverty, sell out, working class, zero hours

Labour have confirmed that if they will win the next election, they will not ban ‘zero’ working hours. Yes I repeat WILL NOT BAN. I held my breath and waited for the but will prosecute any firm that adopts such exploitative contracts but no. Shadow Business Secretary Chuka Umunna says a future Labour government would not ban zero hours contracts but explore ways of reducing their use, such as establishing a statutory code of practice or forcing employers to offer workers permanent contracts after a certain period.

I was always taught that no matter what else you have in life you do not have to give up your integrity, well Labour gave up theirs years ago but obviously have no conscience about getting it back. As Linton Kwesi Johnson once said ‘Wot about de Workin Class’. The backbone of this country has / is being forgotten; as poverty gets a firmer hold families the more workers are exploited – any work is better than no work. Working Family Tax credit has been rehashed pushing working people closer and closer to poverty (and you don’t get no benefits if you jack in your job).

The only answer that is obvious is that NO political party has any interest in solving the economic situation for the working class, only getting / keeping themselves in power by licking the shoes of those with the purse strings.

Don’t vote – let the mandate be less than 20% and see how any party justifies that they represent the people. Its not as if you are going to make any difference to those who need change by voting anyway. You might as well pray!

Boxing Day – a day for giving

Christmas, poverty

Boxing Day, so called as it was in Victorian times, the wealthy used to box up all the things they didn’t want to give to the poor. I suppose you could now call that Brighthouse, but charge 3000% apr. as material desire has got hold of people, there will always be those who will exploit.

Whilst all those attacking big corporations is admirable, just and morale, it is companies like these that are really dangerous to the working classes. Spiralling debt which can lead to depression which in turn can lead to suicide.

This is the scourge of our society, those who pray on the desperate.

consumerism, essentials, poverty

As the Rowntree report states that a family of four need to earn at least £36,800 to cope as income required for ‘decent life’ rises by £10,000 in just four years. Just what is regarded as a decent life – being able to keep warm, feed and clothe your family or should we include holidays, computers, mobiles etc. I am not judging just asking!

What a society we have become where we can let those who are out of work struggle to eat (see foodbank articles) whilst a discussion goes on that mobiles and computers are now essentials – essential to who – and if they are then those without should be able to apply for grants to have one, council flats should have them installed as well as the cooker and all of the basic essentials.

Society has lost sight of what is important – people; children and youth growing up, the elderly who have paid their dues to society, your neighbours. The govt throw phoney events at us to attempt to create social cohesion e.g. Royal Wedding but all this does is highlight the inequality in this country

The bankers have shown the top end of greed due to the desire created by consumerism, but how many of our decisions are guiding by greed or perception rather than fairness! All this report has down is given a mandate to those who are better off than many people to moan that they are hard done to.
