>Unveiled on on 31st March will be the new art work for the underpass in South Norwood. Here’s an extract from Croydon Council website.
“With a passing nod to Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes, The Long Way Home depicts a photographic journey from one end of Norwood Junction Station underpass through the streets of South Norwood to the opposite end. The images focus on familiar street scenes with small details, larger landscape views with concealed figures and historical references.
Liane’s work is engaged with the animation of objects and spaces through staging sculptural interventions, which are then photographed or filmed. Her interventions make use of very life like figures and parts of figures made in the studio, alongside a number of other objects and props. Liane is interested in giving a new atmosphere to familiar sights and places.
This commission is part of Norwood Junction Station Access Scheme which aims to improve the experience of those using the public transport networks around the station. Residents, young people and local businesses worked with the artist to create an installation to enliven the 90 metre underpass. Funded by Transport for London (TfL) elements included in the scheme are safety, reduction in crime and environmental improvements.”
