International Workers Day came and went without people in this country really grasping onto it’s importance. People flocked for the Royal Wedding as ‘its part of our history innit’, but so is May Day. There are not many industries left in this country thanks to shortsighted individuals who allowed individuals to make vast amounts of money by selling out our industry, our history. Gone are the days when children will be able to follow in their fathers footsteps and he did with his father.
This is why May Day is so important; the Tories are already planning to scrap this bank holiday in favour of one in October – to spread them out. Well get rid of Whitsun, families’ livelihoods have been destroyed due to the capitalist economy, and what could be better then pissing upon their graves by getting rid of any lasting mark that highlights that the working class made this country great.
