Is South Norwood going to become London’s answer to Las Vegas in Nervada (see the play on words!)? It has been rumoured that South Norwood high street is going to become home to twon new bookies. The outrage , the uproar we don’t want our area full of bookmakers, gambling etc where will it all lead?
The fact that two empty premises will be filled and jobs created is a bonus. A lot of people like to have a bet and the bookmakers in the area do get full, therefore it makes sense to open up more shops.
There are a lot of people who seem to perceive that South Norwood can become another Dulwich or the Crystal Palace Triangle but it remains an area that is teh last affordable area of London in which to buy in. The area is predominatley made up of working class people – we don’t need a Farmers market or fancy deli’s but we do need the vacant shops to be leased to kick start the local economy.
