I received an email yesterday from ‘virtual norwood’ and after looking at various websites from the links provided, I’ve begun to realise that South Norwood is the black sheep of the family, the runt of the litter. It’s amazing how the attitude can be so different between two areas so close together. Harris Crystal Palace is perceived to be better than South Norwood, although the school is a concrete rabbit warren with no natural light, simply because it is Crystal Palace. The forums are full of where to find a cleaner or complaining that any empty shop may become anything different from a middle class coffee shop. A local historian has always talked about south of the railway line where all the poorer of the area lived and to the north the richer. Nothing much has changed over the last 100 or so years.
