After the meeting to save Stanley Halls last night, myself and a couple of comrades went for a drink in the William Stanley pub. In there I preceded to denounce the good name of Mr Stanley as another rich business man who simply bought a legacy in South Norwood. How wrong I was. The more I read about him, the more I admire the man, who started a business based on a comment by his Dad. Yes he was successful and made money but never forgot his roots and invested in his belief in design and Technology.
William Stanley should be a lesson to all businessmen, that it doesn’t have to be about the money! Long may his memory be applauded throughout South Norwood.
