Anders Behring Breivik – the rise of the right

The right are beginning to rise up again and it is important that the media allow them to have a voice and not censor. It has been reported that the trial of Breivik will be behind closed doors as not to give his right wing views an airing. It is all to easy for us believe / hope that times have moved on and we all live in a multi cultural society but resentment to things foreign is prevalent throughout Europe as well as Britain. Breivik was a fan of Nick Griffin (wanker), but when Nick Griffin was given airtime to put his point of view across it soon became obvious that he was a small minded bigot, full of hatred towards anything not British. British being defined so to exclude many people whose parents were born in this country.

I recently read a article to how the gypsies are being harrassed and killed by the far right in Hungary (didn’t Hitler start with the gypsies). The recession has hit the world hard and it alsways tends to increase the numbers of the right. Papers like the Mail and the Sun contribute to the metaphoric use of ‘scrounger’ for anyone who is not originally from this country and has fallen on hard times; the phrase ‘paki shop’ is still used with a cheeky grin as if it’s a term of endearment and those who challenge it are just those ‘do gooding liberals’. We all must be careful not to fall into complaceny to allow the right to gain momentum, but in order to defeat the enemy you need to know who they are and what they are saying. The media by not reporting on ‘delicate’ issues only strengthens the rights momentum.
