Last night I went and saw Croydon ‘the trams’ FC versus Croydon Athletic, a friendly before the start of the Combined Counties League. The quality is slightly lower than the Premier League but the passion was still there; all 88 supporters (my daughter counted them) oohed and arghed as they groung out a 0-0 draw. What did suprise me was looking at the fixture list for the up and coming season, is a) how many cup competitions they are in and b) that they are playing Guernsey. I don’t know how the channel islands have become involved but it should be a good away fixture.
