So the Governmet have listed many of the e-petitions that have been put forward in order to trigger parliamentary debate. The list includes a petition that 50,000 people signed to have Jeremy Clarkson (wanker) as PM. The idea is that if a pettion gets over 100,00 e signatures then it is eligable to be put forward for debate, however there will be moderation! The clarkson one was thrown out but it would make a good discussion Is Clarkson a bigger wanker than David Cameron.
This whole concept is just a rouse with the fundamental aim to give legitimacy to an already corrupt system, allowing MP’s to pick and choose what they debate. The process could be used for important debates to be postponed, as issues could leapfrog them with the explanation that it was the ‘will of the people’, but also give a mandate to discuss things that shouldn’t be revoked i.e hanging, fox hunting etc.
It has been highlighted over the last couple of years that the make up of parliament is no longer reflective of the working classes, and I don’t imagine that no matter how many signatures are on a petition that policies would change in order to support equality and fairness for all. Democracy……..bollocks.
