I do like it when reporters go over the top in trying to find metaphors to describe an event they are reporting upon. The metaphor yesterday for the rioters in London was ‘PURE EVIL’. Yes Beelzebub himself came to the UK in many guises.
The looting that took place will have devastating effect on the communities. This wasn’t just faceless ‘tax avoiding’ corporations being attacked, but small local busnessmenn who have historically help make a community what it is. Unfortunely the idea of a longer communities which people feel proud of has and is declining and coupled with the respect for the law, embodied in the Met, has dissipated, there was always the potential for things to happen.
Who is to blame? After all ‘where there’s blame there’s a claim’.
I don’t think anything in particular is to blame, society is changing so fast with increases in technology, and the need for material wealth is continually shoved down our throats, people haven’t got time or the desire to participate in community. There was an old phrase ‘you don’t shit on your own doorstep’, maybe that is something that is vanishing with the idea of communal spirit. This of course isn’t the only factor involved but there doesn’t appear to have been any collecticve consciousness except greed. Thatcher must be pleased that a class can turn on itself for material possessions, smashing up their communities in the process.
The worst time in any period of history is when classes turn upon themselves. History can be defined by class struggle, but the selfish cunts who have lined their own pockets at the expense of their fellow neighbour can feel proud that people like Cameron & Osborne are unaffected by it all. The only good thing that may come out of all this is for communities to come together and discuss what is going wrong!
