No this isn’t going to be a post about the history of diamond mining in Africa, but about our lovely Ghanaian Pub, situated in South Norwood. Last year the local community supported William & Fran (then landlords) against protest to have the pub closed. There were many unsubstantiated allegations thrown at the pub, mainly by one resident’, and spearheaded by our community officer PC Darren ‘Cecil’ Rhodes. After pressure from the local communty and articles in the local paper, the push to revoke the pubs liscense stopped, and the battle ended. However I have been told last night that ‘Cecil’ has started up from where he left off last year.
William and Fran no longer run th Gold Coast but Nana, the new landlord, runs an excellent hostilery; I live 100 yards away from the pub and I don’t see or hear any disturbances that supposodly plague the pub. I don’t know why the issue has arisen again, but may I suggest that it may be due to protest because the pub is Ghanain as opposed to an English Pub. The pub before the Gold Coast, The Pleasant Pheasant, was the pub that had a David Beckham effigy hanging from the pub sign after his infamous sending off in 1998; a lovely place as you can imagine. The Gold Coast in comparison is a dream come true; relaxed atmosphere, world music, excellent food – what more can an area want.
I recommend that you buy the sauce!
