At the Liberal Democrat Conference Mr Huhne has attacked the energy suppliers and the difficulty in finding a cheaper alternative. Too right, but the only way to do this is re-nationalisation. Creating competition only ever reduces prices in the short term, but eventually the Directors, shareholders etc. get greedy and the only person that is being screwed is the working class. My gas and electric, per unit, costs the same as Mr Cameron and Mr Osborne but it takes up a higher proportion of my income then theirs. Nationalisation would get rid of greedy shareholders and control prices (it’s not like workers for the energy companies get a bigger salary as the prices increase).
How would this be paid for?
Well I was watching Burke and Hare the other day (terrible film), but I’m sure the country wouldn’t miss the upper class – in the name of science you understand – either that or tax the fuck out of them.
Simplistic – I know, full of holes – I know Although I don’t believe in state control, I despise a capitalist system more; the rich do need to develop a social conciousness or have it forced upon them.
