David Cameron has hit out at claims that the Tories have “sat back” watching their economic policy do nothing but create social unrest and class division. He has unveiled his plan to allow people to buy their council house (sound familiar) but this time for every house sold they will be building another house residence that the council will be able to rent out at a reduced price. Government owned land will be released to allow the project to create 400,00 jobs.
What concerns me is that if homes are built on a like for like basis, it is just a “digging a hole and filling it in” exercise, except for fuelling the fire that for social acceptance you should own your own home. The other approach is that the homes that are being built will be paper thin flats, or high rise buildings, because the blocks of flats built in the 60’s were a real social revolution. This is nothing more than smoke and mirrors to hide the fact that the Tories economic policy is failing and they are doing fuck all about it.
Schools beware – the free milk for the children is not safe!
