Will the Premier League’s bubble burst – Wenger thought so!

For years Sky have had the monopoly on football, but with the ever increasing costs, pubs and clubs are either cancelling the service or purchasing licenses for foreign TV channels that also show the football. However the greedy Premier League have chosen to try and have stated that this is copyright infringement and have fined places that have done this. Step forward Karen Murphy who has challenged the Premier Leagues right to do this, and taken the judgement to the European Courts………and won. What an own goal by the Premier League rather than simply turning a blind eye, as they are not likely to go bust, they have announced to the whole of the country you don’t need sky to show football. As a result the Premier League may now have to negotiate reduced deals for their product, then less money to the clubs and less wages and so on……….

This ruling, if upheld by the High Court in London (they have never gone against a ECJ as yet) may have a massive impact on the game. Arsene Wenger always said the day will come when the bubble burst.
