Whilst I applaud the fact that 10,000 jobs will be created, and the John Lewis group appear to be a fair and just employer (I have yet to be told anything to the contrary), I’m sure the majority of the stores will be in the south, and dare I suggest in predominately white middle class suburbia. Whilst I appreciate that this may be their target market, to situate the stores elsewhere may force the Chelsea Tractor brigade to drive to another area, which may have a knock on effect to that local economy with jobs / income / increased passing trade. I know South Norwood high street needs something to attract more customers.
