Silkworms are being genetically modified so that they can spin silk that is as strong as spider webbing. Spider webbing is stronger than steel, but trying to farm spiders is useless because they don’t produce enough and tend to each other; so lets mutate another species to do the same. My son will be pleased because he wants to be spiderman when he grows up!
If it is acceptable to mutate animals with a pragmatic view of the results, why can’t sportspeopel take dugs with the pragmatic view it will enhance their performance. We are always quick to condone experiments on animals but not on ourselves!
