I did not know that the Earth’s rotation actually slows down about two thousandths of a second per day, meaning that after 500 days the atomic clock (a system designed by humans) would be a whole second ahead of the astronomical time (ruled by the forces of nature). The result is that a leap second is manually added to the atomic clock, however this looks like it may be abolished because it’s a pain in the arse to alter all the man made mechanical objects to keep them aligned with the astronomical clock.
I don’t really know what the consequences of this are, apart from in 82 years the world will be a minute out and in 4920 years the atomic clock will be an hour out. Whilst this doesn’t appear to be too devastating my point is that humans have never quite got it right when it comes to reflecting or designing a process that works perfectly well i.e. Government Isn’t there a book depicting how animals are a shining example of a well worked society? Thank you Mr Kropotkin.
If relevant bodies cannot be bothered to alter their by one second to mirror a natural state of things, it leads you to question whose benefit an artificially established government is.
