Both Tesco and Adele have been on the receiving end of bad press recently; Adele moaning about tax and Tesco for trying to take over the world, but over the last 24 hours praise where praise is due.
Tesco have told the Government that they are going to pay anybody on work experiance and guaratee them an interview afterwards, and if they can do this Tesco have challenged the Government to change their policy – Two fingers to Mr IDS. There will be lots of companies quing up to take advantage of free labour, but surely work experaince is best placed for peopel before they leave school to help them ascertain what working life is like (Fuck that I’ll stay on at school). The Govt have forgotten that self esteem and integrity are also values that are important and the whole scheme undermines both of these.
Adele wasn’t short of self esteem when she showed her displeasure at being forced off the stage at the Brit awards (or was it being touched bty James Corden) – one finger for you corporate music industry. Blur took three minutes to thank everybody – blessed are the cheesemakers – and play a preamble before trotting out to close the Olympics. Adele should have come on stage and interrupted their set, which I have been told was shit, Albarn was slightly out of time with everybody else on Parklife. I have never liked Blur but always thought Albarn at least had integrity and wouldn’t be interested in sponsered gigs, but perhaps money does talk.
At least they could ask Adele about how much tax they will have to pay.
