Len McCluskey, of Unite, has told the Guardian that civil disobedience could be timed to disrupt the 2012 Games, and of course the leaders of our democratic parties have lined up to dennounce this. A spokesman for Prime Minister David Cameron called the idea “unacceptable and unpatriotic”, whilst Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg told the BBC: “People will just be gobsmacked, appalled, at Mr McCluskey’s remarks. At a time when we can showcase to the world that we are positively and optimistically putting on this fantastic event, he wants to bring people out on the streets.”
What planet are these so called representatives of the public living on; in a time of austeriry, spiralling fuel prices we are all meant to shut up, smile and be happy that we have spent money we don’t have for the world to watch people run fast. What do these politicians expect is goin to happen, strikes are not meant to be convenient, they are not meant to cause civil harmony they are aimed to cause MAXIMUM chaos and get as much attention as possible, and then comes along the Olympics. What an opportunity. Did the Government condone Bejhing for covering up protests? The whole world is protesting against the mess that a few greedy wankers have put us in, and what a platform for everyone to put forward their anger at Govt policy.
Did they really expect any difference, a few olympic rings floating on the Thames won’t make people forget poverish britain is becoming. All groups are going to move to a more dissenting position the nearer the Olympics get, language and protest will become more confrontational; the more that show their dipleasure the bigger the bargaining tool.
At least there was a red and black ring. FUCK THE OLYMPICS
