inIn true AFP style (Amanda ‘Fucking’ Palmer), she has released her new album to everybody……literally. It is available to download from the site only paying what you can afford. She also set the precedent with the kickstarter campaign, cutting out the corporate music industry, and getting fans to donate support the costs.

As album sales slump, this is the way forward; arists allowed freedom from the restrainst of greedy corporations but being truly supported by their fans.
Hoorah for Amanda Palmer.

As a fan of Amanda ‘Fucking’ Palmer, I became intrigued by what Kickstarter was and the whole concept surrounding it. It appears to be a fantastic way for people to raise funds from the people that will enjoy the end product!
AFP has offered various packages from VIP tickets to upcoming concerts and even the opportunity for you to have her perform at you own concert in your backgarden. Swans have also similar things recently by selling limited edition albums with various additions, to help fund the recording of the new album. The only downside is that these items can sell really quickly and you miss out. I emailed Michael Gira and he explained that they underestimated as everything sold out in 24 hours.
This is a way for artists not to be controlled by the music industry and will allow for an influx of music that isn’t purely based on commerciality.

inI follow Amanda Palmer on Twitter (@amandapalmer), and she is posting photos of the occupy Boston Movement. From the photos and her tweets, it looks as if they are really trying to make a stand against capitalism with a big clothing market for people to bring stuff and take what they need. Amanda herself is due to perform herself at 4pm (EST).
It appears the occupy movement is getting worldwide, with occupy the London Stock Exchange and occupy the reserve bank in Sydney on October 15th just to name opposite ends of the world. When will the banks and corporations realise, people will not tolerate it anymore.
