It used to be a tradition in this country that on Christmas Eve night, that if a fair maiden were to walk backwards towards a pear tree and circle it three times they would see the face of their future husband. People were happy to dabble into the spirit world on Christmas eve as it is meant to be the one evening where they remained harmless.
It’s amazing all the traditions this country had before the church monopolised many of the holidays, and I believe if Cameron has his way the church (of england) will be further entwined into our society:
just as our language and culture is steeped in the Bible, so too is our politics. From human rights and equality to our constitutional monarchy and parliamentary democracy, from the role of the church in the first forms of welfare provision, to the many modern day faith-led social action projects, the Bible has been a spur to action for people of faith throughout history, and it remains so today.
If this is the case why is the Tory Party and many of its supporters so self centered, and if these are the type of people who champion the bible, then you can fuckin stick it. Anything that creates division and preaches that anything different is wrong is not something I want my Children to have anything to so with. Give me a maypole any day!
