Shelter have stated that they have seen evidence to suggest that there is a trend in landlords evicted their tenants in East London, in order to make space for the potential of £6,000 a week rent during the Olympics. No doubt this will only get worse as the Olympics draws closer, with the rich exploiting the situation.

The Olympics was meant to rejuvinate the east end, not destroy it. Rents had already been increasing as a result of the Olympics but now existing tenants are being forced from their homes. The Olympics will leave a legacy but not one that they hoped for.

If Occupy want to do really damage, occupy the Olymnpic Village rather than Tower Hamlets public space.
