Dr Dee was born 13 July 1527, and died 1608 or 1609, and Damon Albarn has co-written an opera about him based on the comic by Alan Moore – knows the score.
I have a feeling it is either going to be a whole load of pretentious wank or something quite remarkable. Unfortunately anything that has the potential to be out of the ordinary falls into these two camps. The last ‘new’ opera I saw was Gaddaffi by Asian Dub Foundation and that didn’t really fall into the remarkable category.
The beauty of living in London is the opportunity to see things like this.
