As the Olympics starts before the opening ceremony tonight – how does that work, starting before the beginning – the cabbies quite rightly want to continue their protest about not being allowed to use the olympic lanes.
Protest planned at Hyde Park Corner for 5pm, however the police have outlawed this and are not allowing them to protest between 4pm and 3am. To make matters worse the cabbies are not even allowed to travel together north of the river between 4pm to 3am.
Is this legal? Will this set a precedent that you are only allowed to protest if it doesn’t cause any inconvenience to anyone anywhere at any time. Whilst the cabbies are currently complying I wouldn’t be suprised if they don’t vote for more militant action over the next few days.
