For decades many skaters, famous and amateur, have descended beneath the Southbank centre to learn and fine tune their skills, whilst passers by stop and enjoy the talent that is in show. In true capitalistic fashion they are due to be turfed out so the area can be redeveloped for the arts centre – but it doesn’t need developing because it already has a purpose that is regarded as one best unplanned skate parks in Europe.

It is probably under attack because it is for the street – it’s free, it is perceived as anti-establishment and therefore cannot be controlled. If you take art as being a freedom of expression, it is always the first things that are attacked under any right wing government.

Sign the petition to simply stop Lambeth council doing anything. Change is not always for the best.
