We all no Tory’s are fucking selfish cunts, but it is spreading. There is a selfish generation, that whilst they support all good causes, they don’t want anything new in their area. No new schools, no regeneration, unless it is to make space for farmer’s markets or ‘street food’; only things that will improve the perceived quality of their life NOW.

As the population grows, more facilities are needed to create a brighter future for our children and our children children. The difficulty is space, where can things be built, and what is actually acceptable. Most, with their NO petitions don’t actually have good enough reasons that aren’t simply selfish and don’t envisage the potential good that may come of them. Most the time these people just scare monger and don’t actually have facts.

Society is changing and your area needs to change with it; there is no good to come from harbouring romantic visions of the past, things have moved on and we need to move with them. Next time a petition comes your way to prevent a school being built, or proposal for new business venture, don’t think about how yourself or the present think about whether your area needs it in 10 or 20 years. Think of the positives that it will have for the many and not the disruption from the few. Most areas need more schools, affordable housing, more social care, and new businesses. Embrace what could be and not what was.

Remember we have a responsibility for our future generations.
