Why is valentines a big deal apart from adding commercial pressure to relationships. Does it really say how much you love someone when you may have been a complete cunt all year round or does it really say if you don’t conform, the implication to the rest of society is that you don’t give a fuck about your partner. Watch people buy gifts / flowers / meals at overinflated prices because thats what you do, without even giving it a second thought.

Is it a surprise to get something on valentine’s day, or a fear that you won’t get anything? If you are lucky enough to be in a happy relationship you don’t need to be told when to make an effort; any day can be valentines day.

Perhaps the floods are nature’s way of telling us capitalism should have no part in affairs of the heart!
