Whether it is killing, molesting children, bombing innocent people, suppressing freedoms or simply protecting their own institutions and power, religion is not only a dangerous weapon due to the millions of mindless sheep out there but science has proven most of the ‘facts’ that religion state are actually wrong, and didn’t actually happen.
Why does all religion want to regress and oppress society?
I have no problem with people having faith in whatever they want to believe in be it a god, muhammad, an elephant, narcissism, greed or money AS LONG AS IT DOESN”T INTERFERE IN ANYBODY ELSE”S RIGHT TO LIVE AND BREATHE. If you are going to create a doctrine and have millions of people follow it, why not create one that doesn’t judge, doesn’t dictate and doesn’t kill……..oh wait there is one….

It saddens me to say this but atheistic regimes have been just as bad. Although I am not a person of faith, and cannot make sense of claims about an all powerful Frankenstein in the sky, I do understand how non literal pietism is an appropriate means of living according to a religious view. Literal pietism is superstition. Its like seeing prayer as a petition to big daddy in the sky, which on any serious understanding of religion is superstition. The great religions (from the ancient Greeks to the Judeo-Christian and Islamic faiths), if taken seriously, express non literal myths which are neither true nor false – and hence untouched by scientific ‘refutations’. As myths they resemble pictures which may or may not offer a place for those who accept them. Christians tell the story of the Good Samaritan, not as factual evidence to help catch the muggers, but to invite the hearer into the picture – which character would you admire?, asks the teacher. The Hadith expresses many unverifiable myths which give meaning to the lives of many muslims, who have no need to see them as instructions to be carried out.
When I formulated the definition, criteria and tests for brain stem death, now used by every country in the world which has access to intensive care facilities, I was able to cooperate with scholars from the great religions, including muslims, who appreciated the non literal accounts of their faiths. But the fundamentalists within Islam started to stamp out this interpretation and superstition is replacing faith. And the bastards – yes bastards – who assisted them, were those voices on the left who supported fundamentalism (the enemies of my enemies must be my friends) and adhere to no platform policies regarding rational criticism of the muslim faith. Thank goodness the benefits of accuracy in medical diagnosis and criteria for organ transplantation have so far escaped the whacko fundamentalists and their so called anti fascist admirers.
Bottom line my friend. Science has not refuted the facts of religion and never will, because there are no facts to refute. Only the superstitious see facts in religion. Sort that out and we can deal with the nutters who use religion to persecute and murder, and also deal with the deluded among the so called left who have allied themselves with Islamic fundamentalism.
