God Commands Right Because it is Right or Right is Right because God Commands it?

imagesWhat a fantastic evening – although very decadent. Six hours discussing lots of theological / philosophical concepts with my friend Stuart. A christian who believe in democracy (I’m sorry if that does you a disservice Stuart) discussing the best way forward for society and our children with a atheist anarchist – no punches held.

My brain is knackered – most the people I mix with have similar views or don’t like talking about thinks like this. Very refreshing to have the questions ‘and why do you think that’, and ‘why do you think that would work’ thrown at you.

What a fantastic night, by 1am I was completely drained. What excellent company – aways good to challenge your own beliefs.

The one consistent view was that Thatcher and Tory policy are the worst thing that could ever happen to society.

For all the religious rich people – salvation will not be yours

Jesus Christ was a man who travelled through the land
A hard working man and brave.
He said to the rich “Give your goods to the poor.”
But they laid Jesus Christ in His grave.

Jesus was a man, a carpenter by hand,
His followers true and brave,
One dirty little coward called Judas Iscariot
Has laid Jesus Christ in His grave.

He went to the preacher,
He went to the sheriff,
He told them all the same,
“Sell all of your jewelry and give it to the poor,”
But they laid Jesus Christ in his grave.

When Jesus come to town,
all the working folks around
Believed what He did say,
The bankers and the preachers they nailed Him on a cross.
Then they laid Jesus Christ in His grave.

The poor workin’ people, they followed Him around,
They sung and they shouted gay,
The cops and the soldiers,
they nailed Him in the air,
And they laid Jesus Christ in His grave.

Well, the people held their breath when they heard about His death,
And everybody wondered why,
It was the landlord and the soldiers that he hired,
To nail Jesus Christ in the sky.

This song was written in New York City,
Of rich man, preacher and slave,
But if Jesus was to preach like He preached in Galilee,
They would lay Jesus Christ in His grave.

Woody Guthrie.

The forgotten and the ‘NEETS’ – New Labour & Tories have let down the youth.

I can’t believe there is actually a name for the youth that all the politicians forgot – NEETS (18 – 24 year olds not in Employment, Education or Training). No matter which way you turn avenues have been blocked -education is now only for those who can afford it or want a massive debt, little industry, no apprenticeships, increases in prices in cost of living, benefit cuts – it’s not easy or fun being young, let alone trying to establish yourself as an individual. Oh I forgot , you can always go and work for free it will give you experience. I think they call it an internship, and you should be grateful that you are allowed in the building.

Finish school after being told you can be all that you want to be only to be kicked in the bollocks and told to go and live with your family. What happens if you don’t have a family, or in an abusive family where do you go where do you turn. There are lots of people who want to train / work in order to establish themselves in society but what a society we live in. Just like Thatcher before, this country is no longer investing in the future, only this time it is not housing, industry but people.

The system needs to change, we are simply flogging a dead horse. All parties are merging into the same dross who don’t give a fuck apart from maintaining their position in the commons. It is the embodiment of self perpetuated privilege and power. Parliament now is more akin to Gladstone and Disraeli days, all pomp with no concern for the welfare of the lower classes except in the form of religious based charity.

What is the point of democracy when there is no real choice.

I’ve been talking about it for ages but finally got around to doing it. I know have a dollar sign at the bottom of back to compliment the cross on my back.

They both are symbols of oppression and I have them on my back to symbolise the weight of the world on one’s back.

Damn fine work by Time Bomb in Croydon.

Fuck capitalism and fuck religion!

Fr Hans Kung for Pope

Catholicism, pope, religion

Whilst the church doesn’t want the new Pope to become a political decision, which had previously led to assassinations etc, it needs to enter the modern World.

Fr Hans Kung was also an advisor at the Vatican and encouraged the pope to be offered an appointment at Tubingen University in 1966. The sixties changed both the pope and Kung. One moved with the times and questioned the whole legitamcy and the other bought red Prada shoes.

anonI pointed out previously ridiculous webpages that simply spread hate and prejudice inthe name of God.

https://jasonecooper.wordpress.com/2011/08/31/if-god-existed-would-he-hate-the-world/

Now the baptists are attacking ‘Anonymous’ for daring to suggest that their websites are holier than thou.

This is just more evidence that religion is stupid.

So the Church of England don’t think women are equal, and believe it goes against what is taught in the scriptures. How can anyone accept a religion that doen’t believe in equality for all?

I’m glad I’m an atheist and don’t have to worry about such antiquated sexist bollocks.

An Apostate – revolutionary or heretic?

The dictionary definition is a person who abandons his religion, party, cause, etc. In some countries it is punishable by death – can you imagine living in a country where not to believe in the national religion you would be put to death! Most people I know wouldn’t be here now. However today’s Apostate could be seen as tomorrows revolutionary.

Martin Luther, the founder of Lutheranism, was considered both an apostate and heretic by the strict definition of apostasy according to the Catholic Church. Most Protestants would naturally disagree, calling him a liberator and revolutionary.

That’s what I love about religion is freedom of thought!
