There have always been issues in Charities, its just that people didn’t really want to know.

charity, guilt

Whether its having expensive offices in capital cities, or having executives on massive wages and bonuses, charities can be run a ruthless as business’. The days of volunteers simply shaking a tin in the street are long gone; similar to politics, working in the charity sector has become a career path, fuck anything to do with belief.

The recent expose is only come out know because the climate is right that people want to shake their head and fist and shout bastards.but it’s been going on for years. Lots of charities’ money has been taken up on various things that could be done far cheaply. We, as a society don’t see fit to pay good wages to nurses, teachers etc but executives within charities are on top dollar.

The whole Charity aspect has always been questionable, why do we have to pay for mistakes of Government / banks – creating war economies in various countries, loaning them money, selling them weapons then ask the public to help when millions of people are left starving. Why do they compete against each other to get your money when surely there is a common goal. If there is a cure for cancer found do you really think that it will be distributed free – someone will become very rich out of it.

Charity isn’t always what it appears to be and doesn’t necessarily do what it says on the tin. Look for the smaller ones that don’t feel the need to have plush offices of expensive CEO’s or offer ‘sponsored walks’ in tibet – whats wrong with running round the fucking park – if you can raise 2.5k great it all should go to the chosen cause.

Charity is a capitalistic conscience, knows something needs to be done, should be done and pushes the problem onto someone else, and if there happens to a few quid made in the whole process, well it would be rude not to get involved. Guilt is a wonderful manipulative tool.

When the Churches donate all their gold and splendour to worthy causes…………

The forgotten and the ‘NEETS’ – New Labour & Tories have let down the youth.

I can’t believe there is actually a name for the youth that all the politicians forgot – NEETS (18 – 24 year olds not in Employment, Education or Training). No matter which way you turn avenues have been blocked -education is now only for those who can afford it or want a massive debt, little industry, no apprenticeships, increases in prices in cost of living, benefit cuts – it’s not easy or fun being young, let alone trying to establish yourself as an individual. Oh I forgot , you can always go and work for free it will give you experience. I think they call it an internship, and you should be grateful that you are allowed in the building.

Finish school after being told you can be all that you want to be only to be kicked in the bollocks and told to go and live with your family. What happens if you don’t have a family, or in an abusive family where do you go where do you turn. There are lots of people who want to train / work in order to establish themselves in society but what a society we live in. Just like Thatcher before, this country is no longer investing in the future, only this time it is not housing, industry but people.

The system needs to change, we are simply flogging a dead horse. All parties are merging into the same dross who don’t give a fuck apart from maintaining their position in the commons. It is the embodiment of self perpetuated privilege and power. Parliament now is more akin to Gladstone and Disraeli days, all pomp with no concern for the welfare of the lower classes except in the form of religious based charity.

What is the point of democracy when there is no real choice.

Up for auction is Les Claypool’s PACHYDERM prototype bass.  This is one of two original basses that Les has been performing with onstage with Primus for the past couple of years.  It is the exact prototype of the PACHYDERM four string basses that are currently being custom made by Les’s longtime friend and luthier, Dan Maloney.  These basses were designed by Les Claypool to be the most comfortable and easy to play four string basses to his standards.  This particular bass has a walnut top with a maple back and exotic wood pick guard.  It is 32” scale with LED lights in the side of the fingerboard and has a Kahler brand tremolo bar.  Keeping the electronics simple, Les equips his basses with one single custom split EMG pickup with a single control knob.  It has a bronze Pachyderm medallion set into the headstock. This combination of woods and electronics gives this particular bass a warm but punchy attack with a medium finish.  These basses are light and extremely comfortable in the lap as well as on strap.  Being that this is a prototype for a small run of custom instruments, and it’s a personal instrument of Les’, it is sure to be a collectible item.  The instrument can be personalized with a signature by Les if desired and comes with a Gator soft case.

**This is a no reserve auction ending at 10:30 am pacific time on Wednesday, August 15th. Once it’s gone, it’s gone so don’t miss out.

100% of the proceeds for this auction will go to help Les’s nephew, Baby Matthew, who has been battling a rare form of infant leukemia since he was two months old.  He is now two years old and is undergoing bone marrow transplant therapy.  For more information go to babymatthew.org or check out his facebook page under Matthew Robert Pierce.

Even though it looks like we are a new eBay seller, this was an account set up specifically for this auction, we do have over 1,000 100% positive feedbacks so bid with confidence!

Don’t miss out on this once in a lifetime opportunity and know that you are contributing to a very worthwhile cause in the process. We can ship internationally, but shipping cost is paid for my auction winner and is calculated based on location–contact seller for shipping price if interested.

If you have any questions, please use the “contact seller” link above.

Good luck in bidding on this rare and exotic instrument.

What defines a hero?

We (a contingent of Cooper, Bone and Lamy), were discussing last night, just what does quantify a hero, with regard to the ‘help for heroes’ charity. Also if the charity is for ‘heroes’ in the conflict in Afghanistan & Iraq, does a percentage of the funds go to the fallen ‘heroes’ of the Taliban as well or isn’t only for the western moral majority!

Whilst Christmas shopping yesterday in uxbridge I came across the above shop.

I for one am sick of the empathy that we are all meant to have with soldiers. They are only doing a job of there choosing

charity, guilt

Just saw Ewan MacGregor front an advert for UNICEF begging for £5 donation – because he guarantees it will make a difference. How can he guarantee – does he personally transfer aid to deprived areas or is he just reading an autocue. Hasn’t Brass Eye taught them anything.

Also if he is genuine why do they ask for a monetary amount, why not a percentage of your income such as 0.01%. The powerful in this country (usually denoted by wealth) only appear to get involved in any plight when it hs the potential of making them more money and in return gain more power / influence.

Instead the public are made to feel guilty to continually put there hands in their pocket, when Governments could do far more  (except take off the VAT) to help charity organisations. Why does a charity exist; the definition is:

1. Provision of help or relief to the poor; almsgiving.
2. Something given to help the needy; alms.
3. An institution, organization, or fund established to help the needy.
4. Benevolence or generosity toward others or toward humanity.
5. Indulgence or forbearance in judging others
Are not these the values that you expect the Government to have – yes we can all help on a personal/community level but the guilt should not passed down to the public so the Govt can be devoid of any responsibility.
Failing that pop stars could perform in a park and charge extortionate amounts for corporate clients to eat canopes and drink champagne whilst believing they are saving the world.
