empathy, greed, TO BE KIND

I haven’t written anything for a while as I have become really despondent regarding our future. It’s evident that politics isn’t going to resolve any of the issues that our future generations face; all parties are purely out to remain in power for powers sake. A friend on Facebook posted that the left is dead, and to be frank it is;there is no challenge to the inequality that people face within society.

The title of this post is simple, it’s an easy rule to live by and if everyone was, would society be any better. I have been watching the three zeitgeist movies about how human nature has been corrupted simple by greed and selfishness. The worrying thing is, its a downward spiral. Showing children that any action where be it lying, deceit, or simple queue jumping, in order to achieve an advantage over someone else is just blatantly wrong.

Thatcher (yes her) didn’t just introduce policies and legislation, she actually introduced a philosophy that we will continue to reap the devastation from; Tony Blair’s New Labour and the deletion of Clause 4, meant that there was no going back. I read somewhere that if what is happening now happened in the 80’s there would be civil war – but now after years of being told that it is good to consume, to be greedy, to waste, 24 hours convenience, cheaper things without any thought of the consequences. The welfare state was built on empathy; a belief that it was a safety net for those who fell on hard times – now there are those who would be quite happy to see it go are those who are arrogant enough to believe it won’t happen to them and have no empathy to others. Ever action has a reaction, a consequence, no matter how small it has a larger impact somewhere along the line.

There is no longer a party that is not interested in competition, which usually means monetary based. Is money the root of all evil? I don’t believe it is but GREED is; Money/currency is simply a tool to measure somethings value. If generation after generation are learning that the most important thing in life is to be the best and have the best, regardless of how you get it (parents lie to get children into the right school, schools lie to weight the exam results don’t want thick kids bringing down the stats, individuals lie so they don’t have to pay any tax, companies lie so they don’t have to pay a fair wage, the government lies to maintain the status quo). In every scenario, when challenged, there is always an apparent legitimate reason…..that is except is it moral!

It is interesting watching the rise of UKIP, a legitimate party where all the bigots in this country can get behind as it has dresses itself far better than the BNP or National Front? Now how do you fight it, by simply flagging that they are crap and highlighting their shortcomings or do you promote your own positive policies? My friend Ian Bone wrote a good piece yesterday which is spot on:

When has allowing the rich get richer ever helped the poorer aspects of society?

imagesEd Balls has been criticised for saying he would increase taxation for those who earn over 150,000 a year, as apparently this would be an attack on business and discourage investment. Bollocks.

  • A company usually invests with it’s company money and this is dealt with by corporation tax, so that’s not relevant, and will skew HMRC’s figures that are used as evidence that more tax is received when the rich are taxed less.
  • Also rich people buying foreign sports cars, luxury yachts and  holiday homes doesn’t help this economy.

If someone earns 150,000 a year, I’m not too concerned if they have to pay a little more to ensure that other aspects of society can have help when required.

Again its a case of Keynesian economics vs Friedman’s free market – one favours the rich and the other tries to even up the balance. How can 85 people have more money than the poorest half of the world – does that not strike you as a little fucked up?

Has Britain become a nation that simply has a lack of respect?

We are governed by people who have never done a honest days work, policies adopted that mean competition via league tables is encouraged leading to dishonesty to manipulate figures, lies to get children into the ‘right’ school. Misogyny , sexual misconduct and rape covered up by institutions and political parties. Greed is encouraged whilst many families cannot afford a weeks worth of food. No foresight for industry to grow with an economy based on consumerism, where material things are god.

What values and principles are being taught now. This is broken Britain but the current political parties / system are not the ones to fix it or give a lifeline to those broke in Britain.

It’s nice to see that the Financial World will still go through a dead mans pockets!

So Goldman Sachs made a fortune from the Royal Mail Sale, who is actually surprised? It’s the embodiment of the scorpion and the frog, and nothing can change apart from allowing the scorpion to perish. How often do the tax ministers consult with financial experts in order to create new tax laws, only to find those consultants explaining to clients how to avoid the tax law they have just helped create.

The finance world will also fuck itself, look at the Lehman Brothers, the only crime is that we continue to let them get away with it. When society learns not to expect profit making companies to be moral. Until this day the scorpion will always get a ride on the frogs back!

We’ll make UK a ‘land of opportunity’, says Cameron, but for whom?

It’s easy to get swept away with Cameron and the myth that if you work hard you will get plenty of opportunity. What he really means there will be plenty of opportunity for those with money; tax breaks to encourage investment and increase profits. These are not what the working person needs, as greed is getting out of hand investment in the community for all should be encouraged, not individual greed.

tumblr_l8rrhsXJ8l1qb50y9o1_400He might as well shown the clip of Michael Douglas shouting ‘Greed is Good’ but without lifting the curtain of hindsight as to how we got into this situation in the first place. Lets face it the Lehman Brothers did alright whilst ruining the worlds economy. Why did the banks go belly up? Because Thatcher allowed them to invest their reserves, so when push came to shove there was nothing to fall back on.

Yes the country should work in surplus but there are more ways of getting a surplus then cutting lower paid roles, whilst presenting more opportunities for those at the top.

Yes the Tories will reward those who are hardworking, but only those who are not working hard for the country, only personal gain.

food banks, free school meals, greed

It has become apparent that there is a flaw in our system that allows vulnerable families to struggle to eat in school holidays.

In school time, free school meals are provided but in holidays. As I am involved in a school I witness that there are also families who are not entitled to Free School Meals but struggle to provide there children lunch. Despite the Govt stance of ‘let them starve’, my school provides a meal as no child should suffer.

I don’t have answers but simply planting the thought of how can we live in a society that is run by people who are comfortable with children going hungry. I’m due the fags and drink argument will be thrown into the mix by those who ate quite comfortable and don’t give a fuck but that argument can just be cast out with the ‘its not my problem ‘ attitude.

A redistribution of wealth / produce is necessary to ensue people have what they need.

Bedroom Tax – April Fools Joke.

april fool, bedroom tax, evil, greed

As Teresa May has proven, the Tory Party are not very good with dates (just when should we extradite him!), so my belief that the bedroom tax is just a simply bit of tom foolery BUT they got the date wrong again.

As it was being announced, Cameron, Osborne and Clegg were meant to jump out and shout April Fool, once everybody had reacted in accordance the the level of evil that the tax will bring. Everyone would then realise that the Tories are simply good ole fun loving boys – David & George Duck, with Uncle IDS helping them concoct more mischief. But the evil Boss Hog Milliband with Cleetus Balls trying to stop there japes.

Oh to live in a valium induced bubble – nut you wake up and realize the Tory’s are just a bunch of cunts who are simply reactive but in a prejudicial way, so ringfence the wealth and the power in an ever decreasing circle. Perhaps it will become like highlander – There can only be one………greedy cunt.

Why play football manger games when you can do it for real.

football, greed, wealth

As clubs at the lower end of the football tier league, another Arab consortium is making an audacious bid of 1.5 billion for Arsenal. This amount of money would wipe out the debt of most countries, but no, it will be used to buy a football team.

Football began as entertainment / rivalries for the working classes, hence 3pm kick off, to allow people time to change after working Saturday morning. Nowadays the football world has the finances of a small country; players earning money that is completely disproportionate to the rest of working society.

How can individuals amount so much money, that bankrolling a football club doesn’t even make a dent in their wealth. There is something seriously wrong in the world.

They both are symbols of oppression and I have them on my back to symbolise the weight of the world on one’s back.

Damn fine work by Time Bomb in Croydon.

Fuck capitalism and fuck religion!
