As Farage threatens to rip up discrimination laws, he is putting himself on the line to attract the so called True Britons that are fed up with ‘political correctness’ – cue Mr Clarkson – a match made in heaven? As the petition for the bigoted presenter gains 1/2 million signatures, it would be no surprise if Clarkson had written Farage’s speech for him.
Farage must be gaining hope to see that there is popular support for bigoted, antiquated cunts.

It does seem that the left are backing the BBC against bigoted Clarkson. That seems to be the approach favoured by the left today: sack, censor, no platform, safe spaces. Once there were left intellectuals who argued for change. Not anymore. Clarkson is an over-payed idiot working for a state protected monopoly which controls more news than the Murdoch empire. If there was an anarchist movement it would be discussing how to combat BBC monopoly and power. But there isn’t.
Try this. Break up the BBC, leave TV and radio to the many production companies which actually make programmes for the BBC. Extend this to the news. At present these small companies make programmes which the BBC bureaucrats either veto or demand changes usually to fit BBC politics. We can do without this. I have worked with a couple of small companies, and they can be very democratic and cooperative. The BBC heads actually play an inhibiting role in media productions.
Obviously there is a need for a body with overall control – let there be one that is democratically elected, not appointed by the politicians and their cronies.
Basically, as an anarchist I would advocate democratising the BBC, not buying the left’s crap about stupid presenters who shock the middle classes with words like ‘slope’ or poke a producer in the gob.
If we democratise the BBC that might even lend support for democratising the NHS – heaven forbid..
